About the farm

We are a 55-hectare farm in Ribera del Duero, in Burgos, Castilla y León. The holding has two grape varieties that are part of its identity, Tempranillo, known locally as tinta del país, and Albillo mayor. We run the farm with a very clear idea in mind, take good care of the land, choose each plot with care, and avoid pushing the operation beyond what it can return in a stable way.
This season we are concentrating tomatoes on the best-quality plots, because that is where we can make the strongest margin per hectare, and we are keeping wheat only where it helps us stay within a sensible range for water use and field work. We continue to work through the cooperative and with insurance, because protecting profit from both market swings and weather is just as important to us as producing well. We prefer simple, controlled decisions with a clear return over large purchases that could strain cash without a real need.
History

This farm carries the character of Ribera del Duero, a place that can be demanding, but is always honest, where the quality of the work shows up quickly and there are no shortcuts that last. Here, the soil, the climate and each season set the rhythm. So rather than chasing flashy moves, we have learned to read the farm properly and respect what each plot can truly give.
Over time, the farm has taken on a very practical direction. Its foundation is still the quality of the land and the ability to adapt to the environment, but we have also learned that profitability depends on using each hectare well and protecting results when the market or the weather turns against you. That steady, close and realistic way of working is what has brought us to this season with a clear sense of where we want to go next.
Future plans

Right now our priority is to keep margins high without putting pressure on cash. That is why we remain with the cooperative and insurance, and why we are concentrating tomatoes on the best plots, where the agronomic response justifies the effort more clearly. Wheat will continue to play a smaller role, useful for balancing water and field work, but without taking attention away from what is currently driving the business most effectively.
Looking ahead, we do not want to rush into major investments unless the return is clear. The next improvement we are preparing is a greenhouse, because we see it as a sensible way to improve efficiency and make better use of the farm. The plan is to grow carefully, strengthen what is already working, and add tools that improve the stability of the business without losing control of cash or the quality of day-to-day work.
