About the farm

Sierra Magina Olive Grove

We are a 75 hectare olive estate in the heart of Sierra Mágina, in Jaén, where olive oil is not just another product but a way of life. We grow two varieties that complement each other beautifully: picual, sturdy with that noble bitterness so typical of this land, and arbequina, softer and more fruity. Our bet is clear: to produce organic, own brand olive oil, caring for every detail from tree to bottle, so that what reaches the table truly tells where it comes from.

The way we run the farm blends respect for tradition with the tools of today. We keep eight olive plots at a high investment level to sustain the organic certification and the premium label, because that is where our real difference lies. At the same time, we make use of the whole estate with a tomato crop as a cash complement, drip irrigated, with IoT sensors and water savings, to get the most yield per hectare without overworking the soil.

We believe in honesty first: we do not promise miracles, we promise work done well and decisions made with care. Each season we adjust what is needed, reinvest sensibly and look after soil, water and trees as the heritage they are. If you invest with us, you invest in a real farm that wants to last for generations.

History

History

Sierra Mágina has been olive country for centuries, and this estate is part of that long, patient story. Here the trees set the pace: flowering in spring, fruit setting in summer, and that winter harvest that smells of freshly cut grass when the first olive finally falls. We are now in season twelve, and each one has taught us something about this soil, this climate and these trees.

The character of the farm lies in balance. On one hand, picual and arbequina, which we tend organically to build a brand that stands on quality rather than volume. On the other, the tomato, which gives us agility and lets us squeeze the same land intelligently without wearing it out. It is a place where the tradition of the olive grove lives alongside a practical mindset of making the most of every inch.

What defines us is steadiness. We are not chasing a single lucky year, we want this estate still standing a decade from now, stronger and with a recognised brand. That patience, so very much of the olive grove, is also our promise to anyone who chooses to walk this road with us.

Future plans

Future plans

The plan is simple to tell and demanding to carry out: consolidate an organic premium branded olive estate and complement it with tomato as a cash crop. We keep the eight olive plots at high investment to secure the organic brand premium, and we run the tomato at a more contained but highly optimised level, with drip irrigation, sensors, water savings and vertical farming to get more from every square metre.

We have completed the whole technical side of the farm, and now it is time to make the most of it: vertical farming, advanced monitoring and season forecasting working together to lift yields and reduce the labour needed. The goal is not to grow for the sake of growing, but to raise profit per hectare on the same land, doing more with what we already have.

Looking ahead, the strategy is to keep a solid cash position so we can add adjacent plots when the right opportunity appears, always without taking on unreasonable debt. We would rather grow firmly and at the right moment than rush. The underlying aim is for the brand to gain weight, for the estate to grow in area with good judgement, and for each season to perform a little better than the last.
